Van internationaal studeren naar internationaal ondernemen.
Living Stone Centrum realiseert haar maatschappelijk doel door lezingen en workshops voor afstuderenden van hogescholen en universiteiten 'in transitie'. Doel is een internationale mentaliteit en zin voor actie te promoten bij de transitie naar internationaal studeren of werken. De kennisbasis voor deze interventies komt van de samenwerking met drs Miao Zhao's doctoraalthesis over de interculturalisering van het hoger ondewijs: ‘Intercultural Practices In European Universities: Insights From The University of Leuven’ (Faculteit Pegagogische Wetenschappen). De resultaten gaven vorm aan oriëntatiesessies voor buitenlandse (Chinese) studenten, en omgekeerd tot vertrektrainingen voor Belgische studenten naar het buitenland (2007-2010).

CEFcult: Online CEF-based assessment of oral proficiency for intercultural professional communication.
Het door Europa gesteunde CEFcult-project (2009-2011 e.v.) is een praktische toepassing voor het online inoefenen en evalueren van talenkennis en taalgebruik in een interculturele, meertalige omgeving. Innovatief is de combinatie van schalen voor talenkennis (CEFR) en voor interculturele competentie (INCA). Toepassingen zijn beschikbaar op http://www.cefcult.eu en http://cefcult.eu/tool. Job Application Across Borders
In international employment situations, recruiters nowadays organize online video recorded screening interviews for applicants from different countries. As a rule, English is used as the language of communication between the recruiter and the applicant, who often do not share the same native language. Here is the crux. WHERE CAN YOU TEST THE OPENING SEQUENCE ‘INTRODUCING YOURSELF’ IN A RECORDED JOB SCREENING INTERVIEW?
Modular e-learning solutions may offer the necessary preparation to a realistic understanding of one’s intercultural communicative capabilities as seen through the eyes of another. Thereto, oral (self, peer and expert) assessment is a useful step as displayed in the following:
- The perceived level of oral language proficiency is referenced by WebCEF, http://webcef.eu , the online application of CEFR, the internationally acknowledged Common European Framework of Reference (www.coe.int/t/dg4/linguistic/cadre_en.asp);
- The perceived level of intercultural communicative competences is made available through a CEFR add-on, CEFcult.
